Lonnie Walker IV reacts to his return to San Antonio

Lakers newcomer Lonnie Walker IV played his first game against the Spurs in San Antonio since joining the Purple and Gold this past offseason.

His former team welcomed the player with a tribute video. Walker admitted postgame that the return was emotional for him. He was one of the top performers for the Lakers with 18 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 34 minutes of play.

“Very emotional,” the 23-year-old guard said. “I’m still kind of emotional just being back home. This is pretty much home for me. My mom still lives here and stuff like that. I’ve a lot for the community, community has done a lot for myself also. The bond not only off the court with the city of San Antonio and the organization it’s all up, we’re still family.”

This season Walker is averaging 16.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 31.5 minutes per game.
