Brooklyn is facing a challenge with two starters, Nic Claxton and Cam Johnson, set to miss their third consecutive game.

Additionally, Spencer Dinwiddie, along with backup Dennis Smith Jr., is doubtful against the reigning Eastern Conference champions, Miami.

Fortunately, Dinwiddie’s ankle injury from Monday’s game in Charlotte doesn’t appear to be a worst-case scenario, and the Nets haven’t ruled him out against the Heat, signaling a positive outlook.

In Dinwiddie’s absence, Lonnie Walker IV stepped up with an impressive performance, contributing 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a plus-11.

Walker’s impactful play is noteworthy, although not entirely unexpected.

Despite starting the season with a veteran minimum deal with Brooklyn and a DNP in the opener, he showcased his abilities with 14 points and a plus-8 in Dallas last Friday.

Given his recent contributions, he might play a significant role again against the Heat.

“I’ve been in this position before a plethora of times, understanding the business side and understanding maybe that day is just not my day,” Walker said. “But most importantly, it’s all about winning. So when I’m on that court, what am I doing to help my team win if I’m not playing?

“What am I doing to help my team off on the bench? That’s being essentially being a great teammate. By the grace of God, you take it day-to-day and just stay in the gym and work your tail off.”
