Liverpool set to beat Manchester United to the signing of impressive midfield trio – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s lack of squad depth means the side are tripping up in the race to secure Champions League football as most players look tired.
Manager Erik ten Hag has rotated very little after discovering the gap between the squad players and regular stars and that has paid off as the Red Devils have won the Carabao Cup and are in the FA Cup final.
However, due to so many games, the players have looked leggy recently and to fix this issue, the club need to back the Dutch boss in the summer window.
The midfield has not functioned as well as hoped in recent games and United have been linked with a plethora of midfielders.
United need versatile midfielders
Versatility is of paramount importance as the need to bring in a striker is greater and the new midfielder must be capable of playing in multiple positions.
The 20-time English league champions have been linked with Chelsea star Mason Mount, former Ten Hag protege Ryan Gravenberch and their scourge on Thursday, Alexis Mac Allister.
The England man has not had the best of seasons but his quality remains unquestionable and he can also play all across the midfield as well as out wide if required.
The 24-year-old was Chelsea’s top scorer last season and has also been named the club’s Player of the Year twice and his contract dispute with the Blues is what has allowed other teams to sniff around.
The Argentine World Cup winner, on the other hand, has been a revelation for high-flying Brighton and scored the goal that condemned United to a defeat last time around.
The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals and assisted twice in 34 appearances across all competitions for the Seagulls and can play all across the midfield.
As for Gravenberch, after becoming hot property at Ajax under Ten Hag’s tutelage, he decided to move to Bayern Munich where he has hardly featured due to the intense competition for places.
The Dutch international has already made it clear that he is looking for a way out next summer if his minutes do not improve. He has played just 377 minutes of league football since joining the German giants last summer.
Liverpool vs United for Mount, Mac Allister and Gravenberch
United have been linked with all three but as per Football Insider, it seems arch-rivals Liverpool are in the front seat for the midfield trio as they look to overhaul their midfield.
“The Reds are working on deals for Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch, with the trio emerging as the club’s top targets ahead of the 2023/24 season.
“Liverpool are eager to rebuild their midfield department this summer after an underwhelming Premier League campaign.
“It is understood that Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of all three players and has given the green light to the Liverpool board to complete the signings as soon as possible,” the report stated.
United should not allow Liverpool a free hand when it comes to all three as Gravenberch already shares a great relationship with the United boss while Ten Hag is already said to be an admirer of Mac Allister and Mount.
