Leicester sack Steve Cooper with Foxes fighting for Premier League survival
Leicester have sacked manager Steve Cooper with immediate effect.
The Foxes have struggled on their return to the Premier League, winning just two of their opening 12 games in the top flight.
They were beaten at home by Chelsea on Saturday, leaving the East Midlands side two points off the drop zone.
A statement from Leicester said: “Leicester City Football Club has parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
“Assistant Manager Alan Tate and First Team Coach and Analyst Steve Rands have also left the Club.
“Steve, Alan and Steve depart with our thanks for their contribution during their time with the Club and with our best wishes for the future.
We have parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

“Men’s First Team training will be overseen by First Team Coach Ben Dawson, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the Club begins the process of appointing a new manager, which we hope to conclude as soon as possible.”
Cooper had only been in charge at the King Power Stadium for five months following Enzo Maresca’s departure.
The former Nottingham Forest boss got off to a good start back in the top division, earning a point against Tottenham in the first game of the season.
But since then, points have been hard to come by.
Draws against Ipswich, Crystal Palace and Everton have prevented them from moving up the standings.
And with a crucial run coming up, the decision was made to relieve Cooper of his duties.
David Moyes has been earmarked as a potential replacement and could take charge against his old club West Ham in a few weeks time.
