LeBron James says Mac McClung ‘solidified himself as one of the greatest slam dunk competitors’

As NBA legend Magic Johnson put it, Mac McClung saved this year’s Slam Dunk Contest. The two-way 76ers player who has been playing in the G League and waiting for a call from an NBA team, impressed many with his dunks.

LeBron James went as far as to say that the 24-year-old point guard has put his name among the best Slam Dunk Contest participants of all time.

“He solidified himself as one of the greatest slam dunk competitors that we’ve had in the history of the game,” James said about McClung. “Just some of the dunks that he had wasn’t a surprise for me, I’ve been seeing him being a high school sensation and seeing him dunk the basketball for quite a while now.

“But some of the dunks that he had was very unique. His hang time, his swag that he had out there too was organic to himself and it was pretty cool.

“You got guys like Vince [Carter], you got Dominique [Wilkins], you got MJ, you got Aaron Gordon and Zach LaVine and Mac McClung after his performance last night some of the dunks that he had could compete with some of the dunks some of the greatest that stepped foot on that court. It was pretty cool.”
