LeBron James’ comments indicate he’s running out of patience with Lakers
The Lakers are hesitant to trade their future first-round picks (2027 and 2029) to improve the team. Latest reports suggest that the front office is prepared to finish this season with the current roster.
LeBron James recently made it clear that he wants to win now which seems to be at odds with what the Lakers want to do in terms of making moves to improve the team.
In an interview with The Athletic, the four-time NBA champion made a comment indirectly suggesting that he thinks the Lakers should use the two first-round picks that they have to increase the chances of winning another title.

In his most extensive comments yet on the Lakers’ lack of upgrades — and more specifically the reluctance to trade the 2027 and 2029 first-round picks that some team officials believe would be better used to chase another star player this summer — James made it clear that his patience is waning. “Y’all know what the f— should be happening,” he told The Athletic at the end our brief-but-revealing conversation. “I don’t need to talk.”
UPDATE
James took to Twitter to clarify his comment, saying that it was misunderstood. “Hey Sam actually my patience isn’t waning. You make it sound like I’m frustrated when I’m really not. I told you over and over, my job is focused on the guys in the locker room, my job isn’t the roster. That’s the reality of that conversation. And I said what I said with the Upmost respect and calmness cause that’s the mood I’m in! Your welcome! 5 game winning streak,” he tweeted to Sam Amick, the author of the article.
