LeBron James, Anthony Davis gearing up on new challenge from Denver in West Finals
As they marched to the Conference Finals in a compelling feat of eliminating the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, what awaits the Los Angeles Lakers is a dominating titan looking to draw their redemption back from their collapse four years ago.
The Denver Nuggets.
“They’ve been a no. 1 team in the West for a reason and they’ve played exceptional basketball all year, and we got the most for their ball club – very well coached and obviously we know the dynamic of Joker [Nikola Jokic] brings to the game and Jamal Murray being back fully healthy and the rest of those guys,” LeBron James said in postgame.
Powered by back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets claimed the top-seed of the Western Conference with their solid regular season run. They went on to outlast the Minnesota Timberwolves via five games in the first round, while deflected odds to kick out title favorite Phoenix Suns in Game 6 of their West Semis saga.
With Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. healthy and offensively ready to attack, Denver is empowered to fulfill their mission of clinching that elusive title with a plethora of great role players backing them up in the likes of Aaron Gordon, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Bruce Brown and Jeff Green.
With that being said, Anthony Davis believes that they will encounter a much different Mile High City team if compared to what they outlasted back in the 2020 Western Finals Bubble.
“We going back watching that series and kind of see what we did to kind of figure out how we can best get best match up and get victories over them,” he said.
The Nuggets and the Lakers will open the 2023 Western Conference Finals starting on Tuesday.
