The Giants somehow let what appeared to be a sure victory against the Jets slip away last week and will look to regroup against a team that has even more issues than they do in Week 9. The Giants will have Daniel Jones (neck) back under center for the first time in a month on Sunday. Jones missed three games, losses to the Bills and Jets and a win over the Commanders. The Giants lost backup QB Tyrod Taylor to a rib injury in the first half last week against the Jets and went the rest of the way with third-stringer Tommy DeVito, who finished 2 for 7 for -1 yard. The Giants are also hoping for the return of All-Pro LT Andrew Thomas, who hasn’t played since injuring a hamstring in the season-opening loss to the Cowboys. Thomas was limited at Wednesday’s practice.

The Raiders cleaned house, firing head coach Josh McDaniels, general manager Davie Ziegler and offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi. Antonio Pierce – a Super Bowl-winning linebacker with the Giants – replaced McDaniels on an interim basis. One of Pierce’s first move was to bench quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in favor of rookie Aiden O’Connell, a fourth-round pick out of Purdue. He complete 24 of 39 passes for 238 yards and an interception in his only other start, a 24-17 loss in Week 4 against the Chargers.

This will be just the 15th matchup between the teams with the Raiders holding an 8-6 advantage. The Giants won the last meeting in 2021 and have won four of the last five since 2005.  The Raiders opened as a 3-point favorite in the Week 9 NFL odds, but the number has decreased with every Raiders move this week.
