Lamar Jackson’s next team odds has surprising team near top of list

Lamar Jackson has led the headlines throughout the NFL offseason and more fuel was added to the fire today when he released a statement on his personal Twitter declaring that he has requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens.

Falcons in the mix for Lamar Jackson

The Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders are two of the top three teams on the odds list, and those squads likely aren’t surprising to fans. But, the Atlanta Falcons coming in with the second shortest odds at +300 is a bit of a shock to see.

Sure, Jackson would be a good fit in Atlanta, but a report released by Dianna Russini earlier this month stated that the Falcons had no plans to pursue the Baltimore quarterback.

The report wasn’t just a rumor either, as the Atlanta Falcons official Twitter account retweeted the report, as if to support the statement.

Shortly after, the Falcons signed former Washington quarterback, Taylor Heinicke, to serve as the backup to Desmond Ridder as head coach Arthur Smith gave his support to Ridder as their starting QB.

This wouldn’t be the first time a team said they were (or weren’t) going to do something, only to go right ahead and do (or not do it) anyway.

Is this another case of a team saying one thing and doing another? If the odds are a true indication, then it certainly could be.

We’ll keep an eye on how the odds shift throughout the NFL offseason.
