According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Lakers may be in search of a new point guard this offseason. In an interview on FanDuel TV, Charania shared his insights on the Lakers’ situation, including the possibility of targeting a point guard upgrade.

Charania stated, “The Lakers they just made those trades at the trade deadline, get all those guys – D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura – that can help them win right now. And they ended up going to the Western Conference Finals. D’Angelo Russell gets benched in Game 4. I think overall, when you look at the landscape, when you talk to team executives, they feel like the Lakers could be in the market for point guard.”

He further mentioned some notable point guards who could be potential targets for the Lakers, saying, “When you think about the available point guards – Fred VanVleet, Kyrie Irving… Their best bet might be to bring back D’Angelo Russell. But I think what you’re going to see between now and July 1, July 2 is can they get a point guard? Can they see what’s available in the marketplace.”
