As the upcoming 2022-2023 campaign offers a fresh and promising start, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets can certainly hope of a season of redeem.

On behalf of the franchise, Irving wants to create a modified image of themselves.

“We want to erase everything that was said about our team the last few years in terms of our weaknesses,” Irving told ESPN’s Nick Friedel. “We want to turn those into our strengths — and it starts with developing good practice habits. And going out in the game and not just talking about it and actually doing it.”

Brooklyn endured a rocky 2021-2022 ending filled by questions and frustrations. Irving, due to his notorious hesitancy of taking a COVID-19 vaccine shot, has an uncertain future with the franchise. Kevin Durant, on his part, requested a trade out of the drama that battered the organization. Eventually, each sides are still glued and intact moving to a new basketball year.

The All-star guard didn’t shy away from admitting that as a team, they are fixing everything that are supposed to be addressed upon a challenging offseason.

“I’m human,” Irving said. “We’re human. A lot of us have not necessarily played all the games that we would have wanted to — it’s easy again to say we have a chip on our shoulder, but it’s a little bit deeper than that.

“We just want to enjoy playing the game that we love, but play it at a high level where we’re not only making our families proud, but we’re doing everything we can to make each other good.”

The Nets will open up their 2022-2023 season in a clash with the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 19.
