Kirk Herbstreit bashes ‘clowns’ for throwing bottles onto field

Kirk Herbstreit is sick of this garbage behavior.

Herbstreit, calling Alabama’s win over LSU on Saturday with a heavy heart, teed off on fans who threw bottles onto the field at Tiger Stadium during the third quarter of the Crimson Tide’s 42-13 victory.

“Why does that have to become a thing this year?” Herbstreit said on ABC. “Some idiots do this at Texas, and now all of a sudden we see it popping up in college football. Enough’s enough, clowns.

“Just — what are you doing. … This is just stupid.”

LSU fans defiled the field Saturday after a facemask penalty nullified what would have been a third-down sack while the Tigers trailed 21-6.

Fans hurled bottles into the end zone, which delayed play, while staffers, security officers and even cheerleaders removed the debris from the field.

Alabama took advantage of the penalty and drove for a touchdown to grab a 28-6 lead and never looked back in the trouncing of its SEC rivals.

It mirrored the ugly scene earlier this year when Texas fans threw items onto the field in opposition of a pass interference call against the home team that ultimately got overturned against Georgia.

“It’s great. That’s your home cheerleader,” Herbstreit said as the litter was cleared. “Just embarrassing to LSU, it’s embarrassing to college football land just around the country, enough’s enough.”

For Herbstreit, Saturday proved to be an emotional day since it marked his first college game since the death of his beloved Golden Retriever, Ben.

Ben toured the country with Herbstreit, appearing alongside him for college football’s biggest showdowns like Saturday’s SEC tilt.

Herbstreit narrated a video package showcasing the two enjoying tender moments.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t properly lead to this beautiful tribute the @CollegeGameDay put together,” Herbstreit wrote on X. “Really wanted to thank all of you for the avalanche of love and support you’ve shown Ben. It gives me and my family such comfort knowing how he impacted so many peoples lives around the country. He was a beautiful and loving soul.”
