Kevin Durant was close to a triple-double with 26 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists as the Nets defeated the Hawks (108-107) for the tenth consecutive win.

This past offseason he issued an ultimatum to the team this past offseason to choose between him and head coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks.

Nets owner Joe Tsai rejected Durant’s demand, but Nash still got fired early into the season as the team was struggling to win games.

Since Jacque Vaughn replaced Nash as the head coach, the team has improved significantly and is now in the second place in the Eastern Conference with the second-best record in the NBA.

According to KD, the Nets did not have an identity at the start of the season, but things have changed since. Now the players trust the game plan that Vaughn gives them.

“When you have the game plan that works, start believing more and more in what we’re doing every day,” Durant said postgame. “I felt like we didn’t have an identity to start the season.

“And then we started to figure it out as these last few weeks, this last month or so starting to move, we figuring out our identity as a team.

“You walk into every game believing that, alright, if we stick to this template and to this structure that we have, we’ll be fine, regardless of what goes on in the game up and downs, get down big, get up big and lose the lead.

“I think just knowing what we want to do every time we step on the floor keeps our mind at east. And we’ll have that belief in whatever Jacque tells us. Doing the little things throughout the course of the game.”
