Kawhi Leonard underwent knee cleaning, to recover for 8 weeks
Kawhi Leonard underwent a “clean up procedure” on the meniscus tear he had on his right knee last NBA Playoffs, per Law Murray of The Athletic. The process took place around June 6.
According to team president Lawrence Frank, Leonard is expected to heal in an eight-week timeline and be ready for the team’s training camp in September.
Leonard was shelved by the Clippers last postseason after suffering from his meniscus tear. He played the first two games of their first-round set against the Phoenix Suns wherein he tallied 34.5 points, 6.5 boards, 6.0 assists and 54.5 percent efficiency but went on to miss the next three games as Los Angeles was eventually eliminated in five.
After not playing the entirety of 2021-22 due to his ACL healing, Leonard logged 52 appearances in the 2022-23 season and averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 boards, 3.9 assists in 51.2 percent shooting.
The two-time Finals MVP will remain under contract with the Clips until 2024-25 (player option).
