Josh Green on potential extension with Mavericks: “I hope it happens”
Dallas Mavericks’ young shooting guard, Josh Green, is about to enter the final year of his 4-year, $13.6 million rookie scale contract.
As the offseason unfolds, there’s speculation about a significant extension offer from the Mavericks, but Green is keeping his focus on the present and letting the future take care of itself.
After being selected as the 18th pick in the 2020 NBA draft, Green quickly established himself as a promising talent on the Mavericks roster. Last season, he posted career-high averages of 9.1 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 25.7 minutes per game.
When asked about the possibility of a contract extension with the Mavericks, Green maintained a pragmatic perspective. “Honestly, I haven’t really put too much thought into it,” he commented, per Olgun Uluc of ESPN. He emphasized his current commitment to the game and his team, stating, “I’ve really just focused on this. Whatever happens kind of happens.
“I put so much work to be able to be in this position now, that you wanna continue to work. I hope it happens. I want to be in Dallas. I love Dallas. I love the fanbase, love the guys. To think I could be in Dallas long-term would be amazing.”
