Jerry Jones speaks on ‘sensitive’ paternity trial after surprising end

Jerry Jones spoke to reporters for the first time Thursday after his paternity trial with 27-year-old Alexandra Davis shockingly concluded with a settlement on Tuesday.

“It was resolved. It was unfortunate,” Jones said, per the Star-Telegram. “It was sensitive to me and my family… It was resolved. I certainly am where I want to be.”

The settlement terms were not released to the public, and Jones seemingly declined to comment further on the abrupt end of his high-profile case.

Jones had previously reached a settlement with Alexandra’s mother, Cynthia, in 1998, and court records show that Alexandra has been paid $3 million through trusts since her early childhood.

After Tuesday’s settlement was rendered, Jones said, “I regret that it came to this, and I’m glad that it is resolved to everyone’s satisfaction,” according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth

The Cowboys owner also addressed fans regarding the team’s construction, saying he’s “all-in” this year.

“I know that I have had a lot of mistakes in these years,” Jones said. “But the same guys making this decision that has the Cowboys and really got there by the skin of my teeth. And it was a miracle that I was able to pull it off. A miracle. But the same imagination, the same risk-taking, the same taking risks but being pragmatic, being inconsistent, sometime[s] looking like you’re a Mississippi riverboat gambler and sometime[s] looking like you’re trying to guard the national mall. Those inconsistencies are how we got here. Now, that is what you’re seeing going on right now. And I don’t know for sure if it’s going to work. But I am giving it everything I’ve got.”
