Israel-Hamas war: Latest news on Gaza invasion amid calls for cease-fire

Doctors and nurses are trapped at al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in Gaza City, where a barrage battered hospitals and their surroundings, and some patients died without electricity needed for ventilators, aid group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Saturday. Its staff said thousands of displaced people are still sheltering at al-Shifa, with patients and ambulances unable to leave. The Israel Defense Forces said that it would “coordinate [with] anyone who wants to leave the hospital safely” and that it would help evacuate babies to “safer” medical facilities Sunday. But Mounir Abdallah al-Borsh, director general of the Gaza Health Ministry, who is at Shifa, said moving the babies is not an option: “This matter has been raised for a long time, and it is not applicable, and we reject it.” Israel said Hamas militants use hospitals as centers for their operations; doctors and foreign medics who have worked at al-Shifa have denied such allegations.
