Islanders re-sign Simon Holmstrom as two RFAs remain
The Islanders re-signed restricted free agent Simon Holmstrom to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
That keeps the 23-year-old Swede in the fold as he projects to slot into the bottom six a year after scoring 25 points with the Isles.
The former first-round pick has established himself as a solid two-way player, though the Islanders would like to see more consistent offensive production.
Dennis Cholowski and Oliver Wahlstrom — who is set for an arbitration hearing on Aug. 1 — are the club’s last remaining restricted free agents.
