Is ‘Trap’ Streaming on Netflix or HBO Max?

Josh Hartnett stars in the new psychological thriller film Trap, which is coming to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch this hair-raising flick!

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Trap follows Cooper (Hartnett), the father of a teenage girl, Riley (Ariel Donoghue). Along with that title, Cooper is also a serial killer known as “The Butcher.” One night, he takes Riley to see Lady Raven, one of her favorite pop stars, in concert. However, Cooper soon realizes the whole concert is a trap in order to catch and arrest him once and for all. Will Cooper have to pay for his crimes or will he roam free?

So, where can you watch Trap? Will it be on Max? What about Netflix?

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:

WHERE TO WATCH TRAP:

At the moment, the only way to watch Trap is to go to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, August 2. You can look for a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple TV, YouTube and Amazon, or becomes available to stream on Max. Keep reading for more information.

WHEN WILL TRAP BE STREAMING ON MAX? WHAT IS THE TRAP MAX RELEASE DATE?

Trap is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, which means it will eventually join Max. Since the company no longer drops its movies on the streaming platform the same day that they’re released in theaters, we have to wait at least 45 days after the release before we can watch the film from the comfort of our living rooms.

While there is not an official streaming release date yet, The Color Purple, another Warner Bros. movie, was released in theaters on December 25 and didn’t make its way to Max until February 16, which is eight weeks after it debuted. If Trap follows the same trajectory, it’s possible we may not be able to stream it until early October of 2024.

WILL TRAP BE ON NETFLIX?

Warner Bros. Discovery films typically usually head to Max after their release. However, it is absolutely possible that Trap will join Netflix at some point in the future. That possibility is because of a deal penned between the two streaming giants that gave Netflix the streaming rights to eight DCEU movies, along with other Warner Bros. Discovery projects like the original Dune film and Meg 2: The Trench.
