If your boyfriend doesn’t say ‘I love you’ by this time, it won’t work out: expert

It’s tough love.

A “no-nonsense” dating coach says a woman should dump her boyfriend if he hasn’t said “I love you” within three months of starting the relationship.

Jake Maddock — who has previously made headlines for his no-nonsense approach to dating — has offered the claim in several recent videos on TikTok and Instagram, saying women were wasting their time if they stayed with commitment-phobic fellas unwilling to utter the three important words.

“If your partner doesn’t say very clearly ‘I love you’ by 12 weeks, then he’s not your ideal partner and you’ve wasted your time,” the expert bluntly declared.

“You’ll know with your ideal partner, and they’ll know, too,” he added.

Viewers were divided by Maddock’s claim, with some saying the cut-and-dried advice did not apply to every relationship.

Some said men might be “love bombing” by falsely making the profession too quickly.

Meanwhile, others claimed that some relationships needed more time to deepen before a man could genuinely profess his love.

“There are so many circumstances that could be involved in all of this,” one woman wrote.

“In reality, things are different and should be looked at from a broader viewpoint.”

However, several commentators hit back, saying women with low self-esteem often dropped their expectations to stay in fruitless relationships.

“He’s right! This is how situationships develop,” one stated. “Know your worth, ladies.”

Another agreed, saying she immediately clicked with her man and was engaged just weeks later.

“Got engaged after six weeks, married at six months and still married 32 years,” the loved-up lady cooed.
