How do Giants fare entering Week 18?

The New York Giants stunned the football world and ended their 10-game losing streak on Sunday by knocking the Indianapolis Colts out of the playoffs with a dominating 45-33 victory. If you somehow missed those headlines until now, the “45” is not a typo.
Along with their victory, the Giants prevented ugly and unwanted NFL history. They will finish the season 1-8 at home as opposed to becoming the first-ever team to go 0-9 in a single regular season.
All victories are welcome at this point.
As we enter Week 18, here’s a look at where the Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.
WR Malik Nabers and RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. are the first rookie tandem on a single team to both clear 1,000 yards from scrimmage in 18 years. Imagine what they could have done with some semi-effective quarterback play … before Drew Lock’s Week 17 outburst anyway.
Darius Slayton is one of just three full-time starters along with guard Greg Van Roten and safety Jason Pinnock set to become a free agent this offseason. Slayton won a starting job over Jalin Hyatt this summer, just months after he was unhappy with his contract and situation. The veteran is averaging a team-high 14.7 yards per reception and will be considered among the top free agent receivers at 27 years old. It seems unlikely he will return in New York if a significant payday awaits.
Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News:
The Giants showed their future promise, with Malik Nabers being the centerpiece of the offense and the defense becoming more effective with its pressure when playing with the lead. Watch out for them as a big turnaround team in 2025, depending on their QB of choice.
It was good to see Malik Nabers have a 171-yard, two-TD game. He hadn’t had a game like that in a while. Who will be throwing him the ball in 2025? That’s complicated after the Giants moved from first to fourth in the NFL Draft order.
Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk:
It’s fitting that they’ll finish one of the worst seasons in franchise history by screwing up their shot at the first overall pick in the draft.
Winning on Sunday had damaging consequences for New York. Don’t get me wrong, it was really fun watching Malik Nabers tear up and down the field and Drew Lock cosplay a superstar quarterback for a week. But now that the no. 1 pick seems unlikely, it’s going to be up to the front office to figure out how to build a winning roster no matter where they land in the draft. If the goal is to draft a quarterback no matter what, Sunday’s win probably means they’ll have to trade up to do so.
Alex Kennedy, Pro Football Network:
The Giants played their best game of the season in Week 17, defeating the Colts 45-33. Drew Lock threw for 309 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions, with Malik Nabers going off for seven receptions, 171 yards, and two touchdowns.
However, Giants fans were upset, as this win may cost New York the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With this win, New York drops to the No. 4 pick, and now the Patriots are the favorites to land the top selection. The Giants went from heavy favorites to land the No. 1 pick to having the fourth-best odds (21.0%).
Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. are two bright spots in New York’s offense, becoming the first rookie teammates to surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage in the same season since 1970.
It remains to be seen if the Giants will part ways with head coach Brian Daboll. Perhaps this win and how well he has developed the young core will allow him to keep his job. If New York fires him, he is expected to have several suitors.
