How do Giants fare entering Week 11?

The New York Giants found a new rock bottom on Sunday in Munich, Germany, falling to the lowly Carolina Panthers, 20-17, in overtime.

Big Blue has now lost five consecutive games and at 2-8, are tied for the worst record in football. If the season were to end today, they would select second overall in the 2025 NFL draft. Needless to say, some seats are getting quite warm.

As we enter Week 11, here’s a look at where the Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.

Nate Davis, USA TODAY:

Sunday’s defeat in Germany marked their first loss on foreign soil, though the G-Men remain 3-0 in Great Britain – which may be where QB Daniel Jones should apply for citizenship.

The Giants went to Munich and gave the game to the Panthers in overtime on a fumble. They have lost five in a row and are futile. Time to turn up the scouting on the 2025 NFL draft.

NFL Nation, ESPN:

(Dexter Lawrence) is second in the NFL with 9.0 sacks despite playing a majority of his snaps at nose tackle. That is just not normal. Even when Lawrence isn’t reaching the quarterback, he’s wreaking havoc by getting push in the middle of the defense. And he’s doing it despite being double-teamed at a league-high 74.2% of the snaps. He would likely be a serious Defensive Player of the Year candidate if he played on a better team.

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News:

The Giants often get in their own way. They have had some promise at times with Daniel Jones working with rookies Malik Nabers, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Theo Johnson, but they still make key mistakes, not helped by a defense that cannot stop the run.

Frank Schwab, Yahoo! Sports:

This is rock bottom. The Giants have lost five in a row and, unlike many other teams near the bottom of the NFL, there doesn’t appear to be much fight left for New York. They get the bye week now and it can’t hurt.

Diante Lee, The Ringer:

The Giants have been competitive in each of their last three losses, including Sunday’s overtime loss to the Panthers in Munich, but the turnovers are simply too much to bear for a team with no margin for error. Quarterback Daniel Jones wasn’t any worse on Sunday than what we’ve seen in past weeks, but a tipped ball and dropped pass resulted in two interceptions in Panthers territory. Starting overtime with a fumble by Tyrone Tracy Jr., was a perfect punctuation for this mess of a game for New York’s offense.

On a more important note, can we export some better matchups across the globe? Football fans in Germany don’t deserve what they had to watch in Week 10. There’s some kid that may have become a fan of one of these teams after getting to go to a game in person, and subjecting a new fan to a lifetime of Giants or Panthers fandom just feels cruel.

Eric Edholm, NFL.com:

The Giants have lost five straight and limp into their Week 11 bye at 2-8, having reached that record for the third time since 2019. In both 2020 and 2021, they were 3-7 in their first 10 games. They’ve been down before, but this year’s Giants are 0-5 at home and lost Sunday’s Germany game to the Panthers, one of the few teams that until recently was below New York in the NFC standings. No longer. Big Blue and Carolina both entered Week 10 at 2-7; now the former sits firmly at No. 16 in the conference’s playoff pecking order and faces some major questions, chiefly regarding the status of QB Daniel Jones. The biggest shame from the overtime tragedy was that Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s strong outing was marred by his OT fumble. He’s been one of the few good things going for the Giants lately.

Ben Rolfe, Pro Football Network:

At this point, the New York Giants should make every decision based on what gives them the best chance to lose. They are almost certainly not making the playoffs, regardless of who is under center. New York’s best hope is to get the best draft pick possible to draft a new quarterback or to be able to trade for one.

The offense is so bad right now that a top-12 defense cannot carry this team to wins. Daniel Jones has moments that remind you why he was a first-round pick, and then he has moments where you question whether he has ever played the sport before.

The Giants’ know the answer at quarterback, so now they have eight weeks to determine whether the head coach and general managers are the right men to lead the revamp.
