Harry Maguire still in the ‘thick of it’ in the dressing room despite being sidelined by Erik ten Hag – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is still heavily involved in the dressing room with the team despite being injured and losing his place in the starting line-up.

Maguire was present behind the scenes on Sunday, as his team cruised to a 2-1 victory against the Toffees.

The player was given permission by the manager to go out on holiday in Portugal to clear his head while recovering from an injury.

However, the England international jetted in just in time for the Everton game and was present in the dressing room, as he was during the derby.

The Manchester Evening News details, “A source says Maguire, who was dropped in August, has been in the thick of it before and after United’s recent Premier League matches.”

“United players are required to be in attendance for home games unless they have permission to be elsewhere but are not expected to go to away games.”

“Maguire usually attends domestic United fixtures irrespective of his availability and he was advised by club great Wayne Rooney last season.”

This latest move is a great show of leadership by the 29-year-old who last started a game in the Premier League in the 4-0 drubbing by Brentford.

United fans will be hoping that the defender can shake off his injury quickly and be back available for selection by the manager.

October and November are extremely busy and packed with matches, in a schedule that will see the Red Devils play 10 more games before the season is paused for the World Cup.

As per Metro Sport, Maguire is confident of forcing his way into Ten Hag’s plans and making Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad heading to Qatar.

The player feels his injury is minor. Hopefully, his optimism is justified and he can make meaningful contributions to United’s season.
