Group of Death takes the scalp of the EuroBasket winners
Group A was the group of death at the Olympics, but Canada came out unscathed with a 3-0 record in Lille.
They beat Spain 88-85 in their final game on Friday, leaving Greece, Australia, and Spain in a three-way tie, which put the FIBA EuroBasket bottom of the pile, and as a result, the Spanish are out.
Canada’s lead peaked at 14 points and was comfortable. However, Spain were going to take their swing, and they cut the gap down to 80-77 with 2:22 left, thanks to Dario Brizuela’s offensive impulse off the bench.
