The New York Giants are reportedly looking to trade wide receiver and 2021 first-round pick Kadarius Toney.

There has been a lot of wide receiver movement thus far in the offseason. If you thought the Deebo Samuel saga was the latest to keep an eye on, you may want to check out the New York/New Jersey area.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the Giants are looking to trade wide receiver and 2021 first-round pick Kadarius Toney. Leonard adds that the team is making calls to gauge how much they can get in a trade.

Leonard continued in his Daily News article, saying that Toney’s commitment came into question in his first season, citing “lack of playbook study” and “poor meeting behavior.” That, and Toney dealt with numerous injuries throughout his rookie year.

The Giants held their voluntary offseason program to get ready for the upcoming season under new head coach Brian Daboll. Toney was not in attendance.

New York used the 20th-overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft on Toney, which they received after they traded the No. 11 pick to the Chicago Bears, who moved up to get quarterback Justin Fields. The Giants got a 2022 first-rounder from Chicago in return, which turned into the seventh-overall pick.

When on the field, Toney flashes electric speed when he catches the ball. He dealt with a variety of injuries in his rookie season, which include to his shoulder, quad, hamstring, thumb, ankle and oblique. That, and Toney spent two stints on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Toney was limited to 10 games in his rookie season, where he caught 39-of-57 targets for 420 yards and zero touchdowns.

It will remain to be seen if the Giants trade Toney. If they do, that would put the team in the market for a wide receiver in what is a very deep class in the 2022 NFL Draft.
