Giants’ Jermaine Eluemunor injured in first training camp practice

With Evan Neal on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, Jermaine Eluemunor shifted outside to right tackle in his first training camp practice as a member of the New York Giants.

That ended swiftly.

During the final half of Wednesday’s practice, Eluemunor went down with an undisclosed injury and required the help of left tackle Andrew Thomas and head athletic trainer Ronnie Barnes to reach his feet.

Several trainers surrounded Eluemunor on the sideline and eventually, they called for the cart but the veteran waved it off and walked back into the building under his own power.

Along with Jon Runayn Jr., Eluemunor was among the Giants’ prized free agent additions. He is a favorite of offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo and was slated to start at guard this season. His addition was intended to help shore up an offensive line that was among the worst in football history just a year ago.

If Eluemunor’s injury is at all serious, it would be a major step backward for a team that is heavily reliant on O-line health this season.

After Eluemunor’s exit, Josh Ezeudu stepped in at right tackle.
