Giants fan ejected for throwing foul ball at umpire Laz Diaz

A San Francisco Giants fan got carried away during a game against the Colorado Rockies.

During a Saturday afternoon game, as the Giants led 1-0 during the top of the sixth inning, a foul ball was smacked into the crowd by Rockies middle infielder Brendan Rodgers off a 1-1 fastball against pitcher Blake Snell.

The fouled ball was corralled by a fan, who held the ball up for all to see.

But the fan then threw the ball back onto the field, nearly hitting second base umpire Laz Diaz with the heave.

Diaz took exception with the fan’s throw and ejected him from the contest.

In the game, Blake Snell stuck out a career-high 15 hitters in just six innings of work.

Snell is currently a target of the Yankees ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.

Snell has a 5.10 ERA this season but has allowed just two total runs over his last four starts.
