Frank Vogel interviewed by 76ers for open HC spot
The Philadelphia 76ers have interviewed Frank Vogel for their open head coaching gig on Tuesday, per John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Vogel stood up as one of the most notable candidates in several teams’ recent coaching vacancies. He was also tagged in the Milwaukee Bucks’ search for their newest bench boss, but he wasn’t able to become a finalist.
A defensive-minded strategist, Vogel notably guided the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA title in the 2019-20 season. The next two years went on to become a lopsided experience for both sides which resulted the removal of the 49-year-old.
Holding a .526 win rate as a head coach (431-389), Vogel also handled the Indiana Pacers (2010-2016) and Orlando Magic (2016-2018) in the past. He was an assistant for nine years prior to his elevation to the top coaching mantle.
The Sixers are still looking to replace the dismissed Doc Rivers, as the franchise underachieved in the postseason for three-straight years under his watch.
