Fortnite Drops Support for Windows 7 and 8 Computers
If you are excited to play Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4: MEGA on your PC today, make sure your computer is not running Windows 7 and 8.
As previously announced, starting with Battle Royale Chapter 4 Season 2, players will be required to use Windows 10 or higher in order to continue playing Fortnite natively on PC in an officially supported manner. Announced earlier this week, developer Epic Games shared on Twitter that the PC version of its critically acclaimed battle royale no longer supports PCs running Windows 7 or 8. The move is not entirely surprising, given that developer Epic Games announced in December last year that it planned to stop supporting Windows 7 and 8 machines once Fortnite Chapter 4.
PC players have the option to either upgrade their rigs to Windows 10 or 11. Alternatively, if you still want to “play” Fortnite on your Windows 7 or 8 computer, Epic Games recommends downloading and streaming the title on GeForce Now, Nvidia’s cloud gaming service. Additionally, Fortnite is available on Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Of course, PC and cloud gaming services are not the only way to play Fortnite. It is available on many devices, including Android, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
