Footage of Alvin Kamara incident in Las Vegas released by TMZ

Footage of a violent February incident involving New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was released by TMZ on Saturday.

Roughly nine months after New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was accused of assaulting a man in a Las Vegas nightclub elevator, footage of the incident has been released.

TMZ obtained video of the incident and it appears to show Kamara repeatedly and violently assaulting a man. It’s believed that the man in the video is Darrell Greene, who filed a lawsuit against Kamara in October over the incident.

Back in February, Kamara was arrested and charged with battery resulting in substantial bodily harm after allegedly getting into an altercation in Las Vegas. Details of the incident were sparse at first, but a police report was filed that alleged an altercation took place at Drai’s After Dark club in the Cromwell Casino in which a man was assaulted by four men.

One of those men was later identified as Kamara.

Will Alvin Kamara TMZ video lead to a suspension from NFL?

A lingering question since February has been whether or not Kamara will be suspended by the NFL over the alleged incident.

Shortly after the Pro Bowl, which is why he was in Vegas as the time, Kamara was arrested and questioned by detectives before being charged with battery.

According to The Athletic:

Kamara said the victim called one of the members of his group ugly and that the victim said “I’ll whoop your ass too.” Kamara told detectives he saw a fight break out next to him and saw the victim get punched, then punched him as well because he thought he was running away. Kamara said he did not know if he punched the victim while the victim was on the ground.

It’s a cloud that has been hanging over Kamara and the Saints for nine months, but the NFL has yet to act on any disciplinary action.

Roger Goodell took time out of his Super Bowl press conference to talk about the incident but since then it’s been mum from league offices. The release of the video may change that, and it has long been presumed that a suspension for Kamara would come after the start of this current season if it were to come at all.

It’s unlikely that a suspension comes this season, as the NFL is respecting that the incident is considered ongoing by LVPD and will likely make a ruling on punishment this offseason. The most likely outcome is that Kamara loses games at the beginning of next season rather than losing games this year, but that’s ultimately up to the league to decide.
