Everything Announced and Shown at the Guerrilla Collective Showcase 2022

Guerrilla Collective is back again this year, and the latest new showcase highlighted games from across the industry – and it brought a truckload.

Ugly – New Game Reveal

Ugly is a game that looks to mix something of Braid, Celeste and psychological horror to create a dark puzzle-platformer. It will arrive in 2023.

Rain World: Downpour – DLC Details Revealed

Rain World: Downpour, is a new DLC expansion for the challening 2017 action-platformer Rain World. Five new playable characters were introduced – the Rivulet (better able to explore, but with penalties for its food consumption), the Spearmaster (a slugcat that can summon spears), the Saint (a pacifist character with a tongue grappling hook), the Gourmand and the Artificer.

Industria – Surprise Console Launch

This surreal first-person shooter begins in East Berlin before taking you to an alternate universe, set in the dark of the Cold War, with added aggressive robots. It’s unexpectedly out now on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 after a PC release last year.

Symphony of War – Out Now

This Fire Emblem-like tactics game sees you play as a new graduate who must lead an army against a dangerous enemy in a war-torn land. It’s just been released on PC.

Arkanoid: Eternal Battle – New Modes and Release Window

This new version of the classic brick-breaking arcade game is arriving in October, and adds multiple new modes. Online and split-screen multiplayer, Versus mode, Neo and Retro versions, and even 25-player battle royale. It’s coming to PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist – Release Date

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is quite the mash-up of ideas, looking something like a narrative-survival-card game-life sim…thing – and we’ll get to experience it for ourselfve when it arrives on August 25. Decide your future, whether you want to become an engineer, botanist, or soldier, with each life decision changing how your life unfolds on a new planet.

Signalis – Release Date

This deeply moody, very pretty survival horror will arrive for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One (including Game Pass), PS4, and PC on October 27.

Time on Frog Island – Release Date

Time on Frog Island sees you play as a castaway on a deserted island, exploring and finding ways to fix their broken ship. The game will be released on July 12 for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC.

Witch Strandings – Release Date

This dark, strange top-down open world game got a curious new trailer, in which a player is sucked into the game themselves. Developer Strange Scaffold promises meaningful choices, permadeath, and even says this is a new Strand game, the genre famously coined by Hideo Kojima. It will arrive for Steam on July 7.

Monster Outbreak – Release Date

Monster Outbreak is a pixel-art wave defense game where players build structures to fend off waves of monsters – it’s comng to PC on August 25.

Gravewood High – Multiplayer Update

A stealth horror game set in high school, Gravewood High has been available as a single player game for some time, but a multiplayer update is coming this summer, seeing players team up as surviving students… or throwing each other to the demonic teacher haunting the halls.

Boundary – Beta Announcement

Boundary, a tactical shooter set in the zero gravity expanse of space sees you team up with other players in low-gravity operations against enemy astronauts for fights that require as much mastery over physics as weaponry. It’s getting a beta this summer.

Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms – Early Access Release Date

Alaloth is a mix of deeply old-school and modern CRPG gameplay. After years in development, the game will hit early access on Steam and Gog on June 30.

The Fridge is Red – Demo Out Now

This collection of first-person horror games is now beig published by Tinybuild, and a free demo is out now on Steam. Each game features with experimental gameplay inspired by PS1-era horror games as well as the SCP and Twilight Zone – and the trailer looks appropriately bewildering.

Alterium Shift – Demo Announcement

Alterium Shift is a retro-inspired RPG which looks to adopt some of Square’s 2D-HD looks of recent years. You’ll play as one of three heroes assigned to prevent a catastrophic conflict between two worlds as they train – and a demo is coming in Q3 2022.

South of the Circle – Console and PC Trailer

South of the Circle is a narrative adventure exploring the relationship of two Cambridge academics during the Cold War. Already available on iOS, the game will now be coming to PC and console.

Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure – Beta and Early Access Release Window Announced

This new adventure crafting game is set on a mysterious island full of magical creatures and dangerous pirates. Explore the island’s multiple biomes and collect resources, hunt monsters, and fight enemies to make Ikonei your home. The game will begin a Steam open beta on June 17, with an early access release this summer.

Contract Killer – Switch Platform Announcement

A new trailer for Contract Killer, a beat ’em up inspired by arcade classics like Streets of Rage but with the look of something far more friendlier. Contract Killer is now coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The Last Worker – Developer Walkthrough Trailer

We got a developer walkthrough for this first-person narrative adventure about a lonely human in an automated world. After activists ask for your help, you’ll be weighing up choices between doing your job and uncovering the truth of a corporate conspiracy – with an all-star cast including Jason Isaacs.

WrestleQuest – Developer Walkthrough Trailer

This pro-wrestling RPG sees your party of wrestlers taking on opponents across a bizarre world. Side quests are based on real-life wrestlers – and your summons here are the likes of Jake The Snake and other icons. It arrives later this year.

Keylocker – Developer Walkthrough Trailer

A rhythm, turn-based JRPG starring BOBO the singer who fights authority alongside the Jukebot drummer Rocket. We got a look at combat in action, how the complex upgrade systems work, and more.

Zoeti – Developer Walkthrough Trailer

This turn-based roguelike game is played using a deck of cards. That may sound a bit familiar – except this is a true deck of cards, and your skills are activated by real-life Poker hands. We got a look at how that works in this walkthough.

Batora: Lost Haven – Developer Walkthough Trailer

A new walkthrough trailer was shown for this unusual hack-and-slash / twin-stick shooter, which powers a story-driven RPG. Hop across different, colorful planets and make decisions that will determine how your journey unfolds.

Asterigos: Curse of the Stars – Developer Walkthrough Trailer

This action-RPG is inspired by Greek and Roman mythologies. The new trailer introduced us to Eulalia, a singing, birdlike boss, showing off the game’s combat in the process.

Frogun – Developer Walkthrough Trailer

Frogun is an old-school platformer evoking the N64 era. Traverse a retro 3D world in your quest to become the greatest archaeologist in the world. This trailer showed off how the titular Frogun is a weapon, grappling hook, and friend alike. We also got a look at some classic boss battles, costume unlocks, and more.

MADiSON – Gameplay Trailer

This new gameplay reveal for MADiSON shows off more of PT-inspired first-person psychological horror game. As you might expect, it looks absolutely horrific, with the player constantly forced to contend with breaking lights, locking doors, sudden noises… and a demonic presence stalking them through shifting corridors. It’s out on July 8.

From Space – Gameplay Trailer

From Space, a new solo and co-op top-down shooter, lets players squad up in a team of four to liberate planets from an alien infestation. It’s coming in Autumn 2022, and it looks weirdly cute for a game about the apocalypse.

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle – Gameplay Trailer

We got a look at new gameplay for Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, another throwback to ’90s action horror like its predecessor Daymare 1998. We see lots of combat and puzzles, seemingly with a focus on using environmental effects.

Slope Crashers – Gameplay Trailer

Slope Crashers is an arcade snowboard combat game where a crew of animals must become the world’s best snowboarders. Pick an animal and hit the slopes while aiming to get the highest score by chaining together combos and tricks – and taking out your opponents.

Cassette Beasts – Gameplay Trailer

This very pretty, Pokemon inspired RPG got a new look, showing off how any two monsters in the game can be combined to make new creatures. We also got a sense of the game’s exploration – and what seemed to be a hint at something darker, right at the end.

The Cub – Gameplay Trailer

Inspired by classic Sega platformers like Aladdin and Lion King, The Cub sees players take on the role of an abandoned Earth child, who travels through the ruins of a crumbling world while solving environmental puzzles – and avoids human tourists from Mars at all costs.

Xel – Gameplay Trailer

A 3D sci-fi adventure game, Xel follows Reid as she uncovers her mysterious past while collecting new gadgets to master. This trailer showed off more of the puzzling side of the game, with the player travelling seamlessly between different time periods to solve challenges.

Rytmos – Gameplay Trailer

This abstract puzzle game has you travelling through a solar system by way of solving musical challenges, each based on specific instruments from around the world.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Extended Gameplay

We saw a new co-op gameplay video for the classic arcade revival Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Like the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, you can pick your fighter and fight your way through Shredder’s Foot Clan — and we saw full 6-player combat across a boardwalk and funfair.

Skald: Against the Black Priory – Gameplay Trailer

We saw a new trailer for this retro-style RPG set in a Lovecraft-inspired world. Turn-based combat and branching storylines are both core gameplay elements, and we saw elements of both in action, as well as its charming pixel art looks.

Nine Years of Shadows – Gameplay Trailer

This action-platformer – highly influenced by Castlevania – showed off its ability changing armour sets, high speed combat, pixel-art good looks… and the fact that you work with a powerful spellcasting teddy bear.

Greedventory – Gameplay Trailer

Greedventory is a pixel-art narrative RPG controlled using only your mouse in which you guide a hero across a dark comedy fantasy world, constantly looting and upgrading as you go.

Spells & Secrets – Gameplay Trailer

A new gameplay trailer for a rogue-like inspired action game set in the wizard school of Greifenstein. We got a look at character creation, spell us, and unlocks.

River Tails: Stronger Together – Gameplay Trailer

New gameplay trailer for River Tails: Stronger Together, a 3D co-op adventure platformer with a cartoon art style. Solve puzzles together as either a cat or a fish who must team up to climb up an icy mountain.

Flat Eye – Gameplay Trailer

We saw a new gameplay trailer for Flat Eye, a story-driven adventure set in a futuristic fill-up station, combining a management sim and dystopian corporate sci-fi story.

I Am Future – Gameplay Trailer

A new gameplay reveal video for I Am Future, a game set in the sunken ruins of an old civilization. The game sees you build your shelter and create new tools as you chart a future in the post-apocalypse (and make friends with a talking fridge).

Mira: The Legend of the Djinns – Gameplay Trailer

This combat-heavy Metroidvania follows Yuba, a treasure hunter who explores the Desert Ocean alongside Mira, a Djinn who lost her memories. A trailer gave us a sense of the hardcore boss battles coming our way when it arrives on Steam.

Garden In! – Gameplay Trailer

We got a new look at this relaxing fanatsy gardening game, which is as much about creating the prefect environment for you plants as it is the plants themselves.

Exo One – Gameplay Trailer

This trailer showed off the PlayStation versions of the surreal exploration game. The PS5 version will have advanced haptic feedback based on weather patterns and the terrain of each planet, and has been enhanced to hit 120 FPS.

Shashingo: Learn Japanese with Photography – Gameplay Trailer

Shashingo is a smart new edutainment game that uses virtual photography to teach players the Japanese language. The trailer showed off how taking photos will teach you the Japanese words for the objects within, will translate the world around you, and will set you challenges around its locations to find and photograph items.

BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad – Physical Edition

We’re getting a physical release of this fast-paced, ludicrously bloody arcade action game. The new edition physical edition version, courtesy of Limited Run, will include the game, soundtrack, a comic book, traditing cards, pin, and standees. Standalone PS4 and Switch physical bersions are available too. It’s out now.

This War of Mine: Final Cut – Gameplay Trailer

The final version of the critically-acclaimed game with new scenarios, new characters and locations remasted in 4K for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s out now.
