EuroLeague announces 2023-24 season schedule with Play-In Showdown
The EuroLeague has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The new season introduces the Play-In Showdown phase, adding an extra layer of drama between the regular season and playoffs.
The EuroLeague tips off the first week of October with 34 rounds of round-robin action where all teams will face each other twice, both at home and away.
Following this, the Play-In Showdown will set the stage for the four best-of-five playoff series and culminate in the Final Four event, to be held at the renowned Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany.
The season opener on Thursday, October 5, will witness a derby clash between Bayern and ALBA, while the following night showcases the intense rivalry between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, last season’s runner-up. Round 2 features a showdown between the last two EuroLeague champions, Anadolu Efes and Real Madrid.
Throughout the season, there will be eight double-round weeks, including an unprecedented consecutive two weeks where all teams will compete in four games between Tuesday, January 2, and Friday, January 12.
Memorable matchups to look forward to include the Belgrade derby between Partizan and Crvena Zvezda on Thursday, October 26, as well as the highly anticipated El Clasico clash between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Other notable encounters include the Italian derby between Milan and Virtus Bologna on Thursday, November 14, and the Turkish derby when Fenerbahce faces Anadolu Efes in Round 17 on Thursday, December 29.
The regular season concludes on Friday, April 12, followed by the Play-In Showdown from Tuesday, April 16, to Friday, April 19. The best-of-five playoffs commence on Tuesday, April 23, with the potential for an exhilarating finale on Wednesday, May 8, if any series goes to the fifth game. The season will culminate in the highly anticipated Final Four, taking place from Thursday, May 23, to Sunday, May 26, in Berlin.
