Erik ten Hag is AFC Ajax’s “dream candidate” for next season – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has been labelled his former side Ajax’s “dream candidate” for next season.
The 54 year old enjoyed a highly successful first season at Old Trafford where he won the Carabao Cup and finished third in the Premier League, which ensured qualification for the Champions League.
However, with the exception of the FA Cup, this season has been a disaster for Ten Hag. Poor form has seen him guide his side to sixth place in the league and they could sink even lower, with both West Ham and Newcastle snapping at their heels.
What’s more, Ten Hag’s chaotic brand of football has been lambasted by pundits and fans alike.
Another telling sign of the club’s poor playing style is the embarrassing fact that after 31 league games, United have a goal difference of -1.
And while the Dutchman is publicly defiant that he will be at the club next season, many expect he will be fired at the end of the season by the new owners, with names such as Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel and Kieran McKenna all linked to the job.
Furthermore, Ten Hag is also the subject of interest of numerous clubs with links to Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart all cropping up as of late.
However, reliable Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has claimed that it is his former club, Ajax, who are the keenest to take back their former manager.
Speaking on the Kick Off football podcast about Ajax’s future manager(via soccernews.nl) sports journalist Valentijn Driessen claimed, “the first choice is of course Ten Hag. You must have the courage to wait for his dismissal”. Mike Verweij then agreed, “I think Ten Hag is still Ajax’s dream candidate. Regardless of what will happen to Alex Kroes (Ajax CEO)”.
The Dutch giants have suffered an horrendous season as they are sixth in the Eredivisie and lie 33 points off the top. Furthermore, they have just come off a 6-0 mauling at the hands of rivals Feyenoord this past weekend.
Ten Hag represents much better times in the Dutch capital as he enjoyed a trophy-laden spell, winning three Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups, as well as guiding Ajax to the semi-finals of the 2019 Champions League.
Therefore, if the 54 year old is given his marching orders by INEOS at the end of the season, his next landing spot may just be a very familiar setting.
