Erik ten Hag deals with Alejandro Garnacho’s social media controversy after draw vs. Bournemouth – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly addressed Alejandro Garnacho’s controversial social media activity following the club’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday.

United produced yet another poor performance and were very fortunate to even escape with a point at the Vitality Stadium.

Equalising goals from Bruno Fernandes in either half ensured the Red Devils got a share of the spoils.

There was a bit of drama after the final whistle when Garnacho, who was taken off by Ten Hag during the match, liked two tweets from a YouTuber questioning the manager’s decision to substitute him.

The Argentine was removed at the break after casually giving away possession in the build-up to Dominic Solanke’s opening strike.

Bournemouth’s second goal, which saw Patrick Kluivert left with acres of space and plenty of time to pick his spot, also came down United’s right side which was being manned by Garnacho and Diogo Dalot.

After the game, Ten Hag was asked why he took off the winger. The Dutchman replied that there was a need to “repair” that side of the pitch as Andoni Iraola’s men were finding plenty of joy on that flank.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of The Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag has dealt with Garnacho.

“A United spokesperson said the matter was dealt with internally but declined to clarify whether Garnacho has been outright disciplined. United highlighted that Garnacho had swiftly unliked the tweets.”

This has also been confirmed by ESPN who state, “Manchester United are content that Alejandro Garnacho has backed away from a potential row with Erik ten Hag after appearing to like social media posts criticising his manager but, according to a source, the forward’s actions will still be dealt with by the Dutchman.”

“A source has told ESPN that Garnacho showed contrition by quickly unliking the posts, while a club source said that any further action taken against the 19-year-old is considered ‘an internal matter.’”

Academy Scoop further relay that the situation between Garnacho and Ten Hag is “totally over already – a complete non-issue.”

Garnacho and United return to action this weekend when they make their way to Wembley to face Championship side Coventry City in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

All eyes will be on Ten Hag to see whether he names the teenage forward in his starting XI or not.
