Erik Spoelstra: No MRI update for Jimmy Butler after leaving G3 due to knee inflammation
The Miami Heat will continue to roll despite the injury scare of their lead man.
That’s what Erik Spoelstra plainly addressed on Saturday following their 109-103 dub over the Boston Celtics. Jimmy Butler left the game prematurely due to right knee inflammation, and many were expecting that an MRI will be conducted to determine the severity of the injury.
As such, the crafty tactician dismissed this idea.
“I do not have any updates on anybody,” Spoelstra when asked about Butler’s status, via 5 Reasons Sports. “We’re just gonna go back to our caves and recoup. Maybe I’ll have some more information for you tomorrow.”
Spoelstra still has his faith in Butler to be ready and available moving forward for the Heat.
“He didn’t have his normal explosive burst,” Spoelstra said about Butler (h/t Barry Jackson of Miami Herald). “He’s been able to manage this. The next two days will be really important. His competitiveness will overtake everything. At halftime, the trainers made the call for him not to play.”
Despite missing their leader’s presence in the second half, Miami survived from the late game surge given by Boston in courtesy of Jaylen Brown. Bam Adebayo had a statement night to respond from the criticisms he had, stepping up with a double-double performance of 31 points and 10 boards.
Heat takes the 2-1 lead in this 2022 best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series with the Celtics. Game 4 is set to happen on Monday inside the TD Garden.
