Eli Apple’s mom is encouraging NFL Twitter to bash him … but for a good cause

Eli Apple’s mother is calling on NFL Twitter users to direct their hate to the Cincinnati Bengals cornerback, and they will donate money to a good cause.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple has embraced the role of a villain on Twitter. That was evident last year when he trolled the Kansas City Chiefs and wide receiver Tyreek Hill after the Bengals defeated them in the AFC Championship Game. After Cincinnati beat the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round, Apple began trolling wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and seemingly took a shot at Damar Hamlin, which received a ton of criticism.

On Tuesday, Apple’s mom, Annie, called on all of his son’s haters to use the hashtag “#LovetoHateEliApple” and they’ll donate $5,000 to the Salvation Army in Cincinnati for the first 5,000 tweets.

“Put that Eli Apple hate to great use and help families needing housing and care,” wrote Annie Apple.

The Bengals were motivated to defeat the Bills on Sunday, citing the NFL selling 50,000 tickets to the neutral site AFC Championship Game between the Bills and Chiefs, even though the Bills still had to defeat the Bengals. Quarterback Joe Burrow notably said in his postgame interview to “better send those refunds.”

For Apple, he decided to take to Twitter, much like he did last year, to gloat and troll Diggs. One of his tweets was “Cancun on 3” with a heart hand emoji, which Hamlin used throughout his career. It was used by various Bills players, as Hamlin recovered from suffering cardiac arrest back in Week 17. That caused Apple to receive massive criticism on Twitter and from Bills players like Shaq Lawson.

Apple denied using the heart hand emoji as a way to troll Hamlin in the Bills, saying “never would I make light of that scary unfortunate scene.”

With Apple becoming an NFL villain on Twitter, his mother decided to use the hate he gets on the social media platform to help out the Salvation Army.
