Eddie Johnson commends Nick Nurse’s challenge to Joel Embiid
Sixers’ new head coach, Nick Nurse, who succeeded Doc Rivers, has made it clear that he expects reigning league MVP Joel Embiid to step up in various aspects of his game.
Former NBA player Eddie Johnson has expressed his agreement with Nurse’s comments and believes that Embiid should embrace the challenge.
“I think Joel has to stand up and accept everything because he’s getting everything,” Johnson stated on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “So if he’s mad about that, I applaud Nick Nurse for throwing that out there.
“Because he’s letting him know, ‘Hey look, dude, you can’t get out of the second round. All the stuff you’ve done, you still can’t get out of the second round. So I’m going to tell you and show you how you can. Oh by the way, if you want to know how, I can do this, I won the damn title. I am a championship coach. That’s why.’
‘I don’t see any problem with that at all. That’s what Joel Embiid needs. He needs to be stimulated past his greatness.”
