Dwight Howard is living his life to the fullest in Asia as a crazed star in Taiwan’s T1 League, but an opportunity to get back to the NBA would mean nothing but special for him.

In a recent interview with Shams Charania of The Athletic, Howard still expressed his desire to be back, finish his career and win another championship in the NBA.

“I would love to come back to play in the NBA. Also I do enjoy playing international basketball, just the experience is one of a kind. It’s a different type of grind than being in the NBA, and I had a chance to experience it,” Howard said.

“But I would love to finish off my career with an NBA team, hopefully win an NBA championship.”

Howard, 37, is already at the twilight phase of his illustrious career. He managed to log 18 seasons in the league and registered 15.7 points, 11.8 boards and 1.8 blocks in 1,242 total games.

In his recent year in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, he averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.

Across these averaged numbers, Howard cemented himself as the most dominant center of his generation and notably became the face of the Orlando Magic in his early years. But injuries robbed him of his full potential, and went on to get matured as he aged and settled for a role player position. Ultimately, his sacrifice and patience were paid off when he managed to win that elusive title as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019-20 season

Bagging eight All-Star selections, eight All-NBA inclusions, three Defensive Player of the Year plums and other solid individual awards, Howard is bound to become a hall of famer in the near future. As he enjoyed a total roller coaster ride in his career, he clarified that he won’t hold any hard feelings if he won’t be able to get back to the league for a potential last dance.

“I’ve enjoyed playing basketball for so long, and I’m just thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to travel and play in the NBA,” Howard said. “This is the best life.”
