Donna Kelce gushes over why son Travis is the perfect match for Taylor Swift
Donna Kelce revealed to Page Six why she thinks Taylor Swift is the perfect match for her son Travis Kelce.
When we caught up with Donna at the premiere of “Grotesquerie,” which features the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, in New York City on Monday, she exclusively told us that she finds his high-profile relationship with the pop star “kind of interesting.”
“He’s a good guy. He really is. He’s good,” she gushed. “He’s kind. He’s generous. And from what I understand, so is she.”
Donna made sure to add of the couple, “I hope they’re having a good time.”
When we asked her how proud she is of Travis over his involvement with Ryan Murphy’s 10-episode drama series for FX, she replied, “Oh, it’s so awesome. Just to be able to see your kids do what they absolutely love to do, and hopefully this is something he likes! I know he wanted to try [acting], so we’ll see how it goes.”
The 71-year-old — who is also mom to retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce — explained that she’s “always told” both her children, “If you do something you love to do, you will get really good at it.”
She acknowledged that it’s too soon to tell whether Travis, 34, “loves to do it” but noted that he’s “very coachable because he is in sports.”
In the last few years, the Kelce boys have won a combined four Super Bowls and launched an incredibly successful podcast titled “New Heights.”
Their superstardom reached just that when Travis began dating Swift, also 34, last year.
Donna described it all as “a whirlwind,” saying everything changed when “both teams got good enough to play each other in the Super Bowl.”
Travis and his Chiefs beat 36-year-old Jason and his Eagles 38 to 35 at Super Bowl LVII, which took place in Glendale, Ariz., in February 2023.
“It’s just been taking off,” Donna told us of her sons’ multifaceted careers, adding, “I just can’t believe what’s happened over the last couple years.”
Though Swift did not attend Travis’ last game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, during which the former defeated the latter 22 to 17, she’s cheered him on at several matchups since last fall — oftentimes even sitting with Donna and her husband, Ed Kelce.
For the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this month, which saw another Chiefs victory, Donna paid tribute to both Travis and Swift by donning a custom baseball cap embroidered with holly sprigs and white cosmos.
The flowers, notably, are linked to the football player and the musician’s respective October and December birth months.
“Grotesquerie” premieres Wednesday on FX.
