Destiny 2: Lightfall’s Odd Invisibility Bug Raising Doubts About World First Raid
It has been a week since Destiny 2: Lightfall dropped, and players are still getting accustomed to the complex Strand subclass and the inner workings of the Neomuna’s activities. While some early launch bugs were to be expected, one issue, in particular, is causing some problems for players, and it is currently casting doubt on the success of the upcoming launch for the new raid.
Since launch, players have been taking their time to explore Destiny 2’s new expansion and updated features — and some parts of the community have been vocal about their disappointment with Lightfall. However, some players have encountered a particular bug that causes all teammates to appear nearly invisible. This quirk gives affected players a semi-transparent look, similar to how guardians look when loading into instances. While it’s an amusing bug on the surface, the glitch has unfortunately led to complications when taking part in grouped activities to focus on the new content.
In Tweet on the Bungie Help account, the developers stated they are aware of the issue with players appearing nearly invisible and are actively working to resolve it. One temporary solution to fix it is to restart the game and rejoin. While this will fix the issue in the short term, it is still possible for the bug to return.
We are investigating an issue where some player characters and weapons appear invisible after repeated interactions with the post-activity Commendations screen. It is recommended to restart the game app to resolve this issue.

Players are currently experiencing this issue when jumping into fire teams for PvE activities and PvP modes. According to Bungie, the issue stems from the new commendations feature, which allows players to rate other teammates at the end of group activities. Unfortunately, the invisibility bug is a fairly common occurrence now, and it’s made Crucible activities troublesome for players, as they have to work with teammates and find opponents who are more challenging to track.
Doubts rise about Root of Nightmares raid
Unfortunately, the timing for this bug comes ahead of the debut of the new raid activity, The Root of Nightmares. Launching on March 10, the new raid will add more story and gameplay beats to enhance the Lightfall campaign. However, the visual bug that’s going around has the potential to hamper the experience of the raid, making it more difficult for fire teams to coordinate and keep track of teammates during raid encounters. We are still days away from the raid’s launch, and Bungie is still working on a permanent fix.
Destiny 2: Lightfall has a major bug. Loads of people running around invisible and even your gun disappears so you can’t even see your crosshair in both PvE and PvP🥲 pic.twitter.com/dJPjKmrC0r

In our review in progress for Destiny 2: Lightfall, writer Travis Northup stated, “No doubt Lightfall’s shortcomings are made more painful by immediately following The Witch Queen and its strong post-launch updates, which felt like Destiny 2 had finally overcome its storytelling woes and charted out a strong future for itself. After playing Lightfall, perhaps too fittingly given its name, that future doesn’t look quite as bright.”
