Declan Rice has the qualities to fit into Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United revolution – Man United News And Transfer News

The summer transfer window is fast approaching and Manchester United, as ever, are linked with a raft of players.

One of which is West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

The England international has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent years and is widely expected to leave The Hammers this summer.

United solved their holding midfielder problem last summer with the arrival of Casemiro, who has proved an inspired signing.

But Rice represents a long-term solution in United’s midfield and would be capable of playing alongside Casemiro, should the club decide he’s their man.

As reported by The Telegraph, Rice’s personal season statistics stack up impressively, despite a disappointing campaign for West Ham.

Rice ranks in the top three for players in his position for minutes played, passes, successful passes, progressive ball carries, tackles and interceptions.

His passing accuracy, clearances and duels won stats also rank in the top five.

However, where Rice has faced criticism is for his lack of goals and assists, which is also reflected by the stats.

He sits joint 33rd in terms of goals for players in is position and 14th for assists. He also sits outside the top ten for chances created (12th).

Despite the lower numbers in his G/A output, Rice would have the license to get forward a lot more in a United shirt, who are expected to dominate possession unlike West Ham.

Rice’s ability to get around the pitch and win the ball back in the opposition’s half could provide the perfect foil for United’s attacking players under Ten Hag.

Rice’s temperament is also suited to playing for a big club and you’d expect him to handle the pressure that comes with playing for United.

The 24-year-old has experience at international level and has excelled during his games for England

However, the key to the deal will be West Ham’s asking price. The Hammer’s demanded north of £100 million for their star man last summer, which was the main reason why he is still at the London Stadium.

That figure will need to drop significantly if United are to do business with the East Londoner’s but no doubt Rice would become a valuable part of Ten Hag’s revolution if a deal could be struck.
