Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner whip fans into a frenzy ahead of RHOF induction
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees — including Mary J. Blige, Foreigner and Dave Matthews Band — were a few of the honorees at a plaque dedication in Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday, ahead of the main event on Saturday.
The excitement for the weekend’s extravaganza apparently got off to an early start for Matthews.
There was buzz that a fan managed to approach the rocker for selfies and a kiss on the cheek during an earlier rehearsal on Thursday, sources told us.
A rep for the band did not get back to us to elaborate. But we hear everyone played it cool.
At the Friday dedication at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s lakefront museum, Blige was visibly awestruck by all the love she received from the applauding crowd.
“Love you baby! Love you! Go Mary!” one eager fan shouted.
“Thank you so much. It’s been a long time coming, and my fans know what I mean,” Blige said during a speech.
“But, we came. We saw. We conquered. We’re here! Thank you so much. Love you, love you, love you,” she added.
Cher, who once swore off any Hall of Fame honor, is expected at the main ceremony on Saturday night.
A Tribe Called Quest, Peter Frampton, Kool and the Gang and Ozzy Osbourne will also be honored at the induction at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
