Real Madrid make the short trip to Getafe knowing anything other than victory would severely dent their chances of catching rivals Barcelona in the La Liga title race.

Real are currently seven points behind the Catalan club but with a game in hand. The two clubs meet in this weekend’s final of the Copa del Rey, with Barca still in the running for a treble-winning season.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti will therefore be hoping for a strong showing from his players at the Estadio Coliseum on Wednesday.

Getafe, meanwhile, will also be pushing for all three points. Boss Jose Bordalás’s side still have an outside shot of securing European football next season. They currently sit 12th in the table but trail seventh place Celta Vigo by just seven points.

However, Los Blancos’ record against their opponents from south of the Spanish capital makes for impressive reading.

Real have won 29 of the 39 previous meetings between the two clubs in all competitions, the most recent being a 2-0 win for Ancelotti’s men back in December.

Read on to see how the two teams line up in this high-stakes contest.

Getafe team news

The hosts appear to have few injury concerns coming into this game, with only former West Brom winger Allan Nyom missing with a muscle issue.

Twenty-one-year-old midfielder Christian Uche was sent off in the 1-0 defeat to Espanyol at the weekend so will also miss the game.

Getafe starting XI: Soria (GK); Iglesias, Duarte, Berrocal, Alderete, Djene; Milla, Terrats, Arambarri, Bernat; Mayoral.

Getafe subs: Letacek (GK), Bekhoucha, Sola, C. Perez, da Costa, Santiago, P. Gonzalez, A. Rodriguez, Yildirim, Juanmi.

Real Madrid team news

There is no place in the starting eleven for the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Antonio Rudiger, with Ancelotti perhaps keeping one eye on Saturday’s cup final.

Arda Guler, Brahim Diaz and David Alaba come in while Vinicius Junior keeps his place in attack. Rodrygo, who has not scored a league goal since mid-January, is among the substitutes.

Brazilian teenage sensation Endrick starts in the absence of Kylian Mbappe, who limped off late on in the 2-1 second-leg defeat by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals and could now be a doubt for this weekend’s showdown with Barca.

Real Madrid starting XI: Courtois (GK); Vazquez, Asencio, Alaba, F. Garcia; Valverde, Tchouameni, B. Diaz, Guler; Endrick, Vinicius Jr.

Real Madrid subs: Lunin (GK), F. Gonzalez (GK), Vallejo, Rudiger, Camavinga, Modric, Ceballos, Bellingham, Rodrygo.
