With speculations continuing to elevate around the Minnesota Timberwolves camp regarding Karl-Anthony Towns’ condition, head coach Chris Finch announced a needed update about their star big man on Tuesday.

Per Finch, Towns is already on the “final stages” of his recovery from calf injury while performing significant basketball activities, but a timetable of return for him remains yet to be determined.

“He’s doing some basketball activities now, which is good to see,” Finch said, per Chris Hine of Star Tribune. “Still no real timeline for him, though.”

Towns has been unavailable since Nov. 28 in what was announced a Grade 2 calf strain which will sideline him for four to six weeks.

But upon the ending of this timeline, he went on to reveal in a Twitch live stream in late January that his injury is much more severe and on a Grade 3-level. Towns also voiced out his frustration that fans are being given “false hope” by the ball club about his impending return.

With the regular season just around five weeks remaining, it is yet to be seen the much anticipated activation of Towns.

“We talk almost every single day,” Finch said. “But I’m not a medical expert, so I don’t get into the weeds about how he’s feeling with everything.”

The Timberwolves are in the mix of several contending teams continuously altering the postseason standings of the barbaric Western Conference. As they are looking to close out the season on a high note, Towns’ availability will be special as they prepare to vye for that NBA title with Rudy Gobert, Anthony Edwards and newly-acquire Mike Conley Jr.

Team president Tim Connelly assured that the All-Star big will certainly come back this year, and Finch can only hope that would be the case for all the parties.

“We’re hopeful. Yeah,” Finch added.
