Chris Christie Blasts “Angry” Trump For Failing To Prepare For The Debate On ‘The View’: “He Doesn’t Like Working Hard”

It’s no surprise that The View had a field day with Donald Trump‘s erratic performance in Tuesday night’s (Sept. 10) debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. On this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, they even invited former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to the Hot Topics table to weigh in on the mess.

“You saw someone who was exquisitely well-prepared and somebody who was not,” Christie said, comparing to Harris’ well-received debate performance to Trump’s … well … whatever you would call it.

According to Christie, things can go sideways really fast if a candidate is not prepared.

“These things are hard. You go out there, you know there’s 70, 80 million people watching you. And you go out on the stage and you are by yourself in every way that you can be. No staff, no family, no conversation, no notes, no phones, nothing,” he said. “So if you’re not well-prepared, things can go off the rails pretty quick.”

But, as the Republican politician told the co-hosts, Trump generally being a “really angry guy” doesn’t help his case either.

“I said, well in the beginning, the calm Donald Trump will show up because he knows that’s what he’s supposed to be in order to do well,” Christie said, referring to his pre-debate predictions. “But this is not a solo act. This is an interactive thing. And as soon as either one of the questioners or the Vice President would get him riled up, he’ll go off.”

While Christie noted that he helped Trump get ready for his debates in 2016, he said the former POTUS no longer has any interest in preparing himself for such things.

“He has to want to do it. And believe me, he doesn’t want to do it,” he said. “He doesn’t like working hard. He just wants to go out there and be him. And you saw it.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
