Celtic respond to Rangers’ post-Old Firm statement
Scottish giants Celtic have, on Sunday, unveiled a statement of their own, after Rangers revealed their dismay with developments on the back of the clash between the two clubs.
The latest edition of the Old Firm, of course, was played out earlier today.
A tense 90 minutes at Celtic Park ultimately resulted in a 1-1 draw, after Jota’s first-half opener was cancelled out decisively by Fashion Sakala a little over 20 minutes from time.

As so often proves the case in meetings between Scotland’s two biggest clubs, though, much of the drama was simultaneously developing away from the pitch, in the stands at Parkhead.
Violent clashes were widely reported in the game’s aftermath, culminating in Rangers releasing a statement, condemning both the police presence in attendance, and sections of Celtic supporters involved:

Evidently, though, those on the green half of Glasgow are of the opinion that the Gers contingent to have made their way to Sunday’s clash were equally responsible for the post-match chaos.
In turn, in a statement of their own released this evening, Celtic too highlighted ‘injury to fans and stewards’, owing to ‘missiles, including bottles and seating’ being thrown in the direction of the home support:
“We are still working through the recent events at Ibrox, including the assaults on our staff members and supporters.
“It is extremely regrettable that again our supporters have been targeted with missiles, including bottles and seating, ripped from our seating deck, resulting in injury to fans and stewards.
“We will be liaising with all relevant parties in order that a wide range of issues are fully addressed in the appropriate manner.”
