Cavs hesitant to trade for Tim Hardaway Jr. due to salary
Tim Hardaway Jr.’s salary serves as a roadblock for the Cleveland Cavaliers to chase him in a potential trade.
According to HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto, the Cavs are having “hesitancy” around the sharpshooter, who is set to be paid over $34 million in the remaining two years of his contract.
As such, Scotto opines that Cleveland seems to value Caris LeVert more, operating on the idea that the swingman is much better than the Dallas Mavericks veteran.
Prying Hardaway Jr. might at least further help the Cavs on their shooting numbers. The club is currently ranked 11th in three-point efficiency (36.5 percent), with their spacing at the wing being problematic.
The Mavs veteran is 36.4 percent in his shooting from the long range and can give the Cavs a needed offball knockdown shooter to mesh up well with both Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.
As such, the Cavs appear skeptical for now, but who knows what will happen as the trade deadline gets nearer.
