Sochan and Wembanyama propel Spurs to Victory over Trail Blazers

In a commanding performance, Jeremy Sochan’s 31 points and 14 rebounds, along with Victor Wembanyama’s 23 points and 12 rebounds, guided the San Antonio Spurs (9-36) to a 116-100 triumph over the Portland Trail Blazers (13-32) on Friday night.

Despite Anfernee Simons’ impressive 40-point, 10-assist effort for the Trail Blazers, the dynamic duo of Sochan and Wembanyama proved too much for Portland to overcome.

Keldon Johnson added 21 points, and Devin Vassell had 15, as the Spurs secured their fourth win in January, the most in any month this season.

In a commanding performance, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 31-point display propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder (32-13) to a resounding 107-83 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans (26-19).

Chet Holmgren played a crucial role for the Thunder, contributing 20 points and securing 13 rebounds.

New Orleans, playing without the injured Zion Williamson due to a bone bruise in his left foot, struggled offensively, shooting just 39% and making only 9-of-36 attempts from beyond the arc.

Partizan dominates Zalgiris in the fourth quarter for the win

Zalgiris Kaunas made a strong start in Belgrade, leading with a 15-4 run, but Partizan Mozzart Bet rallied in the final period to secure a victory.

Guided by P.J. Dozier and Zach LeDay, along with a notable performance from Frank Kaminsky in the last quarter, Zeljko Obradovic’s team defeated the Lithuanian champions 81-72, improving their record to 12-11.

P.J. Dozier stood out for Partizan, scoring 23 points and tying his EuroLeague career-high, with a particularly strong first half.

Bucks hire Dave Joerger, Rex Kalamian

The Milwaukee Bucks have added Dave Joerger and Rex Kalamian to their coaching staff as assistants under Doc Rivers.

Joerger previously collaborated with Rivers on the Philadelphia 76ers, while Kalamian served as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Notably, Kalamian had been working as a scout for the Brooklyn Nets during the current season.

Wizards instructed to secure additional first-round picks

The Washington Wizards, amid a rebuild initiated last offseason, are actively looking to continue the process as the trade deadline approaches.

According to Brian Windhorst on ESPN’s Hoop Collective, the Wizards’ front office has received a mandate from ownership to prioritize acquiring first-round picks in trades.

The team has reportedly made Tyus Jones, Kyle Kuzma, Daniel Gafford, and Jordan Poole available for trade. While Jones is on an expiring deal, Kuzma, Gafford, and Poole have multiple years remaining on their contracts.
