Though his landing in Detroit came down unexpectedly, Bojan Bogdanovic have plenty of reasons on why he decided to stick around the Pistons franchise.

Initially, he also had doubts of trying to stay in Motown given its ongoing rebuilding process, but Bogdanovic revealed that a conversation with team brass convinced him to agree on an extension that benefits both sides.

“Just talking to Troy (Weaver) and (Pistons owner Tom Gores), they assured me that the team is going to go in the right direction,” Bogdanovic told Mike Curtis of The Detroit News. “We got a good salary cap (situation) for the summer that we’re going to try to bring someone in … We’ve been rebuilding, so they’re trying to win, so that’s the first thing that I asked them, and that was the main reason (to extend), honestly.”

Bogdanovic inked a two-year, $39.1MM extension last week, wherein the final year is partially guaranteed for $2 million. Nevertheless, he is assured of being a part of the franchise at least next year, with the Pistons possessing a hefty cap space to ink some other notable free agents.

Throughout his ten games so far for Detroit, the Croatian cager is averaging 20.2 points on 50 percent shooting to go with 3.3 boards and 1.9 assists. And while the club might have been on a lowly start with a 2-8 record, his veteran presence will remain vital for the growth of their promising young core as they move along.
