The Portland Trail Blazers cut their ties with Edniesha Curry (h/t Andscape’s Marc J.  Spears).

Last season, Curry was tapped by head coach Chauncey Billups to be on his side in the Blazers sidelines, becoming the first woman assistant coach in team history.

Curry had a professional stint in the WNBA, selected by the Charlotte Sting for the 41st pick of the 3rd round of 2002 Draft. After three years, she then transferred in his hometown team Los Angeles Sparks.

The 43-year-old mentor has an expanded development coaching resume in Israel, China and Vietnam. Curry also served in University of Maine’s men’s and women’s basketball team before shifting to the Portland bench last season.

She is currently guiding the U.S. Virgin Island’s national basketball team — becoming the first woman in AmeriCup history to coach a men’s senior club.
